Get a replacement head for the Standard Aquadyne 2.2
Question.
What is the cost to convert from "standard" to "high efficiency" on a 2.2 Aquadyne with blower?
Answer: The conversion of an older "standard" to "high efficiency" involves the complete replacement of the control head and column with an entirely new part. They are made almost completely differently. The conversion would NOT be costly. I will send you the upgraded 2.2 high efficiency control head, brand new, for one hundred and ninety nine US dollars plus realtime shipping (not marked up)
If you do not already have the DynaMax blower riser and plumbing, the bulkhead will have to be installed in your tank, which is easy if you FEEL 100% CONFIDENT that you can cut a perfect, circular hole in your Aquadyne tank body to put the bulkhead in. Bead loss or leakage will occur unless you rill the unit on it's side.
Q: Does the high efficiency control head have slots like the standard? If so, is the width of the slots the same as the standard size? My beads get tightly clogged inside the slots on my standard 2.2

A: Your problem should be reported to the manufacturer for either replacement beads or replacement head. If you bought the filter from us we will replace the head. The slots or "radials" in the High Efficiency and the regular 2.2 head are identical and should not trap but maybe a dozen beads on the whole head. The High Efficiency simply has twice the piping inside the column and 2" ports. When you "jam" beads, it almost always means you're trying to push too much water under too much pressure through the column. This happens when a too-small filter is trying to handle too much water and you're trying to observe the once per hour turnover rate. When you pair a 1HP Wunderflo with a standard 2.2 this can happen.
Q: Why should one switch from the old 2.2 head system to the new on the Aquadyne 2.2?
A: The new, High Efficiency Aquadyne 2.2 has twice the plumbing inside allowing twice the throughput of water and instead of 1-1/2" porting, the head supports 2" plumbing.
